I keep getting a warning to update my payment details, but my Microsoft Personal 365 account payment is up to date. What do I do.

    Hi, @Alfat Khan

First, check your subscription here: https://account.microsoft.com/services

Make sure Microsoft 365 Personal shows as active and the next billing or expiration date is correct.

If it is active, sign out of your Microsoft 365 apps, close them, then sign back in with the same Microsoft account. In an Office app, you can also go to File > Account and select Update License if that option appears.

If the warning still appears, to help narrow down the issue:

    1. Where exactly are you seeing the payment warning: in Word/Excel, Outlook, your browser, or somewhere else?
    2. What does the warning say exactly?
    3. Does your Services page show Microsoft 365 Personal as active with no payment issue?

Click "Add comment" to let me know.

    Thanks!

If the payment method is already updated, the warning is usually caused by Office still seeing an old subscription or billing state.

    Try this in order:

    1. Check that the subscription is active. Go to the Services & subscriptions page and confirm Microsoft 365 Personal shows as active.
    2. Check the payment method status. Go to the Payment options page. If the payment method shows an error, update it there.
    3. Close all Office apps, then reopen Word or another Office app. If the warning appeared because of a payment issue, restarting the app after the payment update can clear it.
    4. Sign out of Office, then sign back in. In Word, sign out at the top right, restart the PC, then sign back in. This can refresh the subscription recognition in Office.
    5. If Office shows an option to refresh the license, use it. In an Office app, go to File > Account and use Update License if it appears.
    6. If the payment was only recently fixed, allow time for the account status to sync. Payment status can take up to 24 hours to fully sync across services.

If the warning is ignored, Office can eventually go into reduced functionality mode, where documents can still be opened and printed, but not edited or newly created.
