Emails automatically going into categories

Hi,

In the New Outlook, is there a way to have all incoming emails from addresses I have previously received emails from to go into specific categories rather than just opening up to hundreds of emails in the one big main inbox?

I know I can manually assign each email to a category, but I'd much prefer they automatically were assigned if I can just add that email address to the category once.

Thanks!

    Hi @Chris Pike

You can use Inbox rules in New Outlook to automatically assign a category to future emails from specific senders.

    • Go to Settings > Mail > Rules.
    • Select Add new rule.
    • Under Condition, choose From and enter the sender’s email address.
    • Under Action, choose Categorize and select the category you want.
    • Save the rule.

You will need to create a rule for each sender or group of senders, as Outlook does not provide a single option to categorize everyone you have previously received email from.

Please note that New Outlook does not support inbox rules for third-party accounts such as Gmail, Yahoo, or iCloud. For those accounts, the rule must be created through the email provider.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any further updates, thanks.
