Hello,
I was trying to refresh my aas via adf and in doing so I had to upscale the tier from D1 toB1 but now I wish to downscale back to D1 as this is done in the dev env and B1 is pretty pricey.

Is there a way to achieve this?

    Hello @Marko Oja ,

Thanks for the ask and using Microsoft Q&A platform.

Unfortunately, you cannot downgrade from Basic tier to Developer tier.

Reason: You can easily change the instance level of Azure Analysis Services within the same tier. The limitation is that you cannot downgrade a Basic tier to a Developer tier, but you can upgrade a Developer tier to a Basic/Standard tier. Besides that, limitation, you can do any change between choices available within the same tier.

Moving from a Basic tier to a Developer tier is possible by doing a backup of the database and a following restore in a new instance created in a Developer tier. This is possible only whether the database does not use any feature reserved to the Basic tier.

Keep in mind that every time you change the tier selection, you lose any existing connection. You should do that only when users are not working and when there are no processing operations running.

Please do let me know how it goes .
    Thanks
    Himanshu
