    Hi Janice,

If you no longer need the second email account, it may help to clarify whether you want to remove it from Outlook or permanently close the email account itself.

If your goal is simply to stop seeing that account in Outlook, you can create a new Outlook profile that only includes the email account(s) you want to keep. This gives you a clean setup without affecting the email account at the provider level.

    Please try these quick steps:

    1. Open Control Panel > Mail.
    2. Select Show Profiles.
    3. Choose Add and create a new profile.
    4. Add only the email account(s) you want to use.
    5. Set the new profile as the default and restart Outlook.

This approach can be useful if you want to keep your Outlook configuration organized while removing access to an account you no longer use.

If you're trying to permanently close the email address itself, please let us know which email provider it belongs to, and the community can point you to the appropriate account management options.

Feel free to ask me by clicking "Add Comment" or "Add Answer" if you cannot add comment so your response will be visible. Thanks for your effort.

If this is a second email account in classic Outlook for Windows, removing it from Outlook does not deactivate the email account itself. It only removes that account from Outlook, so mail for that account will no longer send or receive there.

    Steps:

    1. In classic Outlook for Windows, select File.
    2. Select Account Settings > Account Settings.
    3. Select the email account to remove.
    4. Select Remove.
    5. When prompted, select Yes to confirm.

    Important:

    • Outlook warns that all offline cached content for that account will be deleted from the computer. This affects only content downloaded and stored locally.
    • If this is the last or only email account in classic Outlook for Windows, a new data location must be created before the account can be removed.
    • If the goal is to deactivate the email account itself, that must be done with the email account provider.
