Redeemed Code on Incorrect Account

Question

Hello. I just redeemed a gift code to an incorrect account. The code was intended for my XBOX account, but it was redeemed through my Microsoft 365 account. My XBOX account was established several years ago through a separate email which receives emails through my 365 email, but I cannot view the redeemed game code. Is there a way I can either get the redeemed code returned or a new code set so I can get it to my XBOX account where the game was intended? Thank you!

Unfortunately, if a code has been redeemed, it cannot be transferred or use on another account.

In this case, if the code is a Microsoft balance or Xbox balance, you can use it and buy the game for your Xbox account as a gift. However, if the code is a game, you will need to use game share if possible.

Redeemed codes generally cannot be undone or transferred to a different Microsoft account after redemption.

What can be done:

1. Check whether the code added value directly to the account balance. Microsoft and Xbox gift cards, download codes, and tokens are added to the Microsoft account they were redeemed on and can then be used from that account.
2. Sign in to the account that redeemed the code and check the account area:
   • Go to Microsoft account and sign in.
   • Open Subscriptions.
   • Select Redeem a code or gift card if shown, or go to Payment & billing > Redeem.
3. If the code was a Microsoft Rewards redemption, check the Rewards order history and order details to see whether a code, link, or resend option is available.
4. If the code was redeemed to the wrong account and the item is not usable there, contact Microsoft Support for account-specific assistance.

If this was a game code that was already redeemed to the wrong account, the supported guidance is to contact Microsoft Support. If it was a gift card or balance code, it stays on the account where it was redeemed.
