Legacy MCID values are no longer used. The unique identifier is now the Microsoft Learn username, and certifications cannot be transferred by MCID.
For an empty Learn profile with missing legacy certifications, the supported steps are:
- Sign in to the correct Learn profile.
- If multiple Learn profiles were created under different login accounts, the certifications may be under a different profile.
- Try signing in with any other login accounts that may have been used when registering for the exams, including any personal Microsoft account or work/school account used at that time.
- Check the Learn profile areas directly.
- Open the Learn profile and review Transcript in the left column.
- Open Credentials in the left column, then check the Certifications tab.
- If two Learn profiles exist, merge them if eligible.
- A profile merge is supported when only one of the profiles contains a personal Microsoft login account.
- In Learn profile account management, choose add login account. If that login account is associated with another Learn profile, it triggers a profile merge.
- Merging combines learning progress, credentials, and transcripts, and cannot be undone.
- If the certifications are still missing, contact Microsoft Credentials Support.
- The documented path for additional assistance with missing credentials is Microsoft Credentials Support.
Relevant limitations:
- Microsoft cannot recover or restore the contents of a Learn profile that cannot be accessed.
- If access to the original login account was lost and no alternate account was added, that can result in loss of access to the profile and its data.
