    Hi it yateem,

I understand that the system print dialog was working before, but now Edge displays “An error occurred during this operation.” Since you mentioned that other users are seeing similar behavior, I would first like to determine whether this is related to a specific Edge version or printer selection.

Could you please check edge://settings/help and share the exact Microsoft Edge version shown there? Also, please confirm:

    • Does printing work if you use the regular Edge print window with Ctrl + P instead of Ctrl + Shift + P?
    • Which printer is selected when the error appears: a physical printer, Microsoft Print to PDF, or another virtual printer?
    • If you select Save as PDF in the regular Edge print window, does it complete successfully?
    • Does the same error occur with every webpage and PDF, or only with a particular document?

Microsoft is currently tracking a printing issue in Edge version 154 that affects both the standard print experience and the Windows system print dialog when Microsoft Print to PDF is selected. If this matches your configuration, you can temporarily use Save as PDF from Edge’s regular print window instead. Please note that this workaround does not apply to the Windows system print dialog. For more information, please visit Microsoft Edge known issues

Please avoid rolling back Edge at this stage. Once the Edge version and the results of the tests above are known, it will be easier to determine whether this matches the known issue or is specific to the printer or Windows print system. Try this sequence to isolate whether the failure is in Edge print preview, the system print dialog path, or the printer/driver:

    1. Test the same print job from another website or document in Edge.
      • Open a different page.
      • Press Ctrl+P.
      • If that prints, the original page or document may be the problem.
      • If needed, open the page in Immersive Reader from the address bar and try printing again.
    2. Test printing from another application.
      • Open Word.
      • Create a blank document.
      • Type =rand (10) and press Enter.
      • Try printing it.
      • If Word and other apps also fail, the issue is more likely the printer driver, Windows, hardware, or connectivity.
    3. If other apps print but Edge fails, update the printer driver.
      • Edge printing issues can be caused by the printer driver even when other apps seem less affected.
    4. In Edge, if Print preview failed appears or the selected printer may not be available:
      • Reopen the Print dialog.
      • Select a different printer, or reselect the current printer.
      • Temporary printer connectivity issues can cause this behavior.
    5. Restart Edge and retry.
      • Close the current Edge window.
      • Open a new Edge session.
      • Go back to the page and print again.
    6. If the issue is specifically with the system print dialog path, verify whether the browser is configured to use it.
      • The UseSystemPrintDialog policy makes Edge open the system print dialog instead of built-in print preview.
      • Supported on Windows 77+ and macOS 77+.
      • Group Policy path: Administrative Templates/Microsoft Edge/Printing
      • Policy name: Print using system print dialog
      • This policy requires a browser restart after change.
    7. If the problem is affecting many users, collect details and send feedback from Edge:
      • Settings and more > Help and feedback > Send feedback
      • Include:
        • the error description
        • the website or document being printed
        • the steps before the issue occurred
        • the printer in use

If printing fails only when using the system print dialog and works through normal Edge print preview, focus on the printer selection/availability check and printer driver update first.
