    Hi

This looks like a phishing email. Threatening to cut off account access unless you download an “update” is a common scam tactic.

Don’t click Download or open any attachments. In Outlook, select the email and choose Report > Report phishing.

Yes, this is very likely a phishing scam.

    Red flags in the message:

    • The sender domain micosoft.com is a misspelling, not a legitimate Microsoft domain.
    • The message uses urgent, threatening language such as losing access to the account.
    • It asks to click a download link from email. Microsoft updates are handled through Windows Update or Microsoft 365 update mechanisms, not through random email download buttons.
    • Microsoft support email should come from recognized Microsoft domains such as microsoft.com, microsoftsupport.com, mail.support.microsoft.com, office365support.com, or techsupport.microsoft.com.

    What to do:

    1. Do not click the Download button.
    2. Do not open attachments or reply to the message.
    3. Mark the email as phishing/junk in Outlook.
    4. Delete the message.
    5. If an update is really needed, check it directly in Windows Update instead of using the email link.

If the link was already clicked:

    • Disconnect from the suspicious page or download immediately.
    • Change the Microsoft account password.
    • Review recent account activity for anything unfamiliar.
