    Hello,

    1. What exact error message appears when you try to open Microsoft Edge on your Windows 11 PC?
    2. Could you share a screenshot of the error message here?

Meanwhile, see whether you have tried all the troubleshooting steps offered by AI, mainly the third step (Repair Microsoft Edge).

    User's image

If you are still having issues,

Uninstall and reinstall the Microsoft Edge web browser.

Open the Command Prompt (Administrator) Window.

Run the command below and click Enter.

    To Uninstall.

    cd %PROGRAMFILES(X86)%\Microsoft\Edge\Application\1*\Installer

    setup.exe --uninstall --system-level --verbose-logging --force-uninstall

Once uninstalled, download the latest version of the Edge web browser from the official Microsoft website here.

Try these steps in order. After each step, try opening Edge again.

    1. End any stuck Edge processes.
      • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
      • End every msedge.exe task.
      • Start Edge again.
    2. Restart the PC.
      • Select Start > Power > Restart.
    3. Repair Microsoft Edge.
      • Close Edge.
      • Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
      • Select Microsoft Edge > Modify > Repair.
      • This should not affect browser data or settings.
      • If Modify is not available, Edge may be managed by an organization.
    4. Check whether the problem is a corrupted Edge profile.
      • Open Command Prompt and run:
         "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe" --user-data-dir="%TEMP%\edge-test-profile"

      • If Edge opens with this test profile, the original profile is likely the cause.
    5. Create a new Edge profile if the test profile works.
      • Close all Edge windows.
      • Go to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Edge\User Data.
      • Rename Default to Default.old.
      • Start Edge again to create a fresh profile.
      • If Edge is stable, copy needed data such as Bookmarks from Default.old to the new profile.
    6. If Edge opens briefly or shows a blank window, turn off graphics acceleration.
      • In Edge, go to edge://settings/system.
      • Turn off Use graphics acceleration when available.
      • Restart Edge.
    7. If Edge still does not open, reinstall it.
    8. If Edge opens but pages fail to load, clear cached data.
      • Go to Settings and more > History > Open history page > Delete browsing data.
      • Choose All time.
      • Select Browsing history and Cached images and files.
      • Select Clear now.

If the issue started after another app was installed, check Task Manager and installed apps for third-party software that could interfere with Edge, then remove or stop it and test again.
