Azure AD app GUID creation

Hi Team,

Wanted to understand how Application(client) ID and Directory (tenant) ID are created during Azure AD app registration.
We see that it is a string consisting of alpha numeric characters along with an '-' and 36 characters in length.

  1. Are there any specific rules that are being followed while formation of these IDs?
  2. Will it contain any other special character?
  3. Will the length always be the same?

    Thanks for reaching out.

    Azure AD generate unique GUID for any given object present in cloud and this process is similar to On-premises AD how it generate unique Object GUID for each objects.

    Yes, as you mentioned these unique GUID consisting of alpha numeric characters with 36 characters in length which consist of 5 blocks divided by '-' as shown below and doesn't contains special character also length would remains the same for all object (36).
