Hi folks,
i wanted to change the type of my managed os-disk from standard to premium (same size). The assistant in azure portal states that the disk must be deattached from vm first. Is there a way to do this without losing data on the managed disk? or do i have to start from scratch. If yes, how do i achieve it in the azure portal?

Yes, you can just deallocate (stop) the virtual machine and then change the disk type. There will be no loss of data.

thanks for the reply. Even with a stopped VM, i´m not able to change the SKU of the disk from Standard SSD to Premium:
What am i doing wrong?
Have you stopped the VM from the portal? Maybe just give it a couple of minutes and try again but make sure the status says Stopped (deallocated) first.
