I have a scheduled task that runs fine normally but does not wake up computer to run it. I have enabled the Wake Timer under power option and made sure I check the box to wake computer to run it when setting up the task. I also checked that the high precision event timer is enabled and running under device manager as I've seen some posts indicate that is a problem. Any other things I should check?

I feel your frustration. Would you mind trying one test to determine if the PC will wake up to run tasks other than the backup.

Create a scheduled task of your own to wake the PC at a specified time (let's say 15 minutes from current time. In the Action tab have it run a program - try notepad.exe. Leave options in the settings tab at default.

Save the task and let the PC go to sleep (set it for 10 minutes).

PC should wake up approximately 5 minutes after going to sleep

If you have left the laptop lid open then when the PC wakes up this display should stay black but you should be able to tell from light activity whether it wakes up or not. If you think it woke up then activate the display using the keyboard (you may be prompted to login based on your account settings). When you get to the desktop do you see the notepad window open?

I think I have found the solution to my problem.
I turned off 'Fast Start' through the Control Panel. Then disabled hibernation (powercfg -h off) and checked the state with 'powercfg /a'. It seemed to do the trick. Macrium Reflect backups were already scheduled to run overnight and they ran perfectly without errors at the scheduled times.
This worked for me but at the moment I do not understand how.
    Thanks for your advise

I'm glad you have found a solution. From your description I cannot give any explanation for the behaviour. I would just go back to my original comments and chalk this up to yet one more instance of weirdness with the whole wake-sleep mechanism in Windows 11 (and latest version of Windows 10).

Thanks for coming back with the solution you found.

Does anyone have any other suggestions or configuration settings to try?

I have a new Windows 11 tower for home use; I'm using it to record TV using Hauppage tuner card and recording SW. I'm still not able to get the computer to reliably wake from sleep for scheduled recordings.

After scouring data on the net, I've made the following changes on my system:

    1. Changed my login type from Microsoft login to local login
    2. Set "If you've been away, when should Windows require you to sign in again?" to Never
    3. Disabled hybrid sleep mode (powercfg -h off)
    4. In Power Options, set PCI Express: Link State Power Mgmt to Off
    5. Also set Sleep: Allow Wake Timers to Enable

I've created events both from the Task Scheduler and from the TV recording SW. I put the system to sleep using the start menu power selection. If I have a timer set for relatively soon after that (an hour or so), the timers wake up the system. But if the system remains asleep a lot longer (like overnight) then neither timer type wakes the system. It feels like the system goes from normal sleep to a deeper sleep after some time period and wake timers don't work in that state.

Can anyone think of anything else I can try? Otherwise, I'll have to make sure I'm around to wake the system by hand (ESC key on KB works) before scheduled TV recordings. Or wake it well before and let it run for hours (I've set auto-sleep to Never). The system has SSD instead of HDD so I guess I'm less worried about wear and tear leaving it running for long periods, but I'd still like to get the wake timers to always work!

    Of course not
