Windows 11 VM using Visual Studio Azure Credits?

This is a follow up to my earlier question over at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/566875/how-to-launch-windows-10-vm-using-visual-studio-az.html. I've been very successfully working with Windows 10 client VMs using my $50 Visual Studio Professional monthly credit, but now I have customers asking if my product supports Windows 11. As far as I can see, the 'client' images available are Windows 7, 8.1 and 10.

So first question, is there a way to use my Azure credits to run a Windows 11 VM (for dev/test purposes only)? If not then how do I launch a Windows 11 VM for dev/test? All of the ones I've tried require you to check the 'I confirm I have an eligible license with mult-tenant hosting rights' box that I understand from last time is intended for production use rather than dev/test.

Thank you!
Mark

    Hi @Mark Dixon ,

    • In Azure Portal create a new VM
    • In the Image section click on See all images

    • In the Select an image window type Windows 11 in the search field
    • On Windows 11 click on Select and select the version you like to install in the VM

    Hi @Mark Dixon ,
For customers with Windows 10 Enterprise E3/E5 per-user or Windows Virtual Desktop Access per user (User Subscription Licenses or Add-on User Subscription Licenses), Multitenant Hosting Rights for Windows 10 allows you to bring your Windows 10 Licenses to the cloud and run Windows 10 Virtual Machines on Azure without paying for another license. If you have that license, you can run Windows 11 on Azure. For more information, please visit - https://partner.microsoft.com/en-us/licensing

You can use Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10 Enterprise (x64) in Azure for dev/test scenarios provided you have an appropriate Visual Studio (formerly MSDN) subscription. Check the below URL for more details - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machines/windows/client-images.
