Tenant to Tenant Migration

Folks,

I need your thoughts on the following:

We one to migrate Azure VMs and APPs from one Tenant to another Tenant due to business split e.g Migration of some infrastructure from Tenant A to Tenant B.

I have a few things in my mind i-e taking Snapshots of VMs or transferring VHDs to the the desired Tenant or create a new subscription in Tenant A, move all the required infrastructure to the said subscription and then move to the subscription to Tenant B.

I would appreciate your inputs/ideas on this.

Hi @waqas

Just to make sure we are using the same terminology, when you say Tenant, are you referring to Azure AD Tenant?

If that's the case, I would indeed create a new Subscription and move Azure resources as described in the following article:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-resource-manager/management/move-resource-group-and-subscription

According to the article you have mentioned - The source and destination subscriptions must exist within the same Azure Active Directory tenant.

Assuming Tenant A and Tenant B are under the same Azure Account, will the guidelines in the article apply if resources in a Subscription on Tenant A have to be moved to a Subscription on a separate Tenant B and can resources supporting move operation be migrated?

Moving resources from one tenant (A) to another tenant (B) isn't supported. You can move resources across subscriptions within the same tenant.
