Failure to connect azure virtual machine using RDP

Hi

Today, I have been issues to connect with my azure virtual machines using RDP, also all the software and services deploy into the machine are down.

I ran the Review connectivity diagnostics on azure support and gives me this message:

The DHCP request failed causing the VM to lose connectivity

We have investigated and detected that the virtual machine (VM) currently does not appear to have connectivity. This is due to a failure in the dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) request.

Recommended Steps
Try each of the following steps in order to resolve the issue.

Redeploy to a new host by accessing the VM properties blade in the Azure portal and clicking Redeploy
Resetting the guest NIC may restore RDP connectivity to the VM
Check that the DHCP client service is enabled

Anyone with the same issue?

Thank you

Nuno

    Hi @Nuno Almeida

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Platform .

Looks like your VM lost connectivity due to DHCP service not running/stopped running .

You can try out the following mitigations one by one to fix the issue :

    1. Try to check if the service is running from the serial console and start/restart it : https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/azure/virtual-machines/troubleshoot-rdp-dhcp-disabled
    2. If the above fails you can try to reset the NIC of the VM : https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/azure/virtual-machines/reset-network-interface

Either of those should help in fixing the issue .

    Thanks & Regards,
    Pradeep
