Is there a way to disable the script confirmation popup the appears everytime I click on a button?

I create a simple file and I was trying to automate some processes and I notice that every time I click on the Script button it shows me a popup on the right side that says script run status, its annoying to see that everytime I click on the button. How do I desable that?

Hello Nancy,

When will this be fixed for all versions of Excel, my company wants to reprogram VBA to Scripts but this issue is very annoying and since it it around from 2020 I think there has been plenty of time to address this issue.

Hi David and Doug,

We've recently transitioned the status pane into a status bar at the top of the Excel workbook - this change has been fully released to Excel users who use Office Scripts on their web browser, and we're in the process of implementing it for desktop as well.

It still doesn't address that you may not want to have a notification (especially that doesn't automatically disappear) every time you run a script. For example, if you have a simple script that shows / hides infrequently used tabs...a VBA button works great for this (fast and unobtrusive) but the scripts version forces you to hide a window showing that you ran the script. Less clicks = better. Otherwise very happy with an automation tool that works across the desktop and web!

Same experience as Chad. I appreciate this is an improvement of the previous behaviour, but it is a huge step backwards from the legacy approach with VBA.

Delaying the run and showing the bar is a significant-enough downgrade from the VBA approach that it is stopping me from using scripts I have already written. I am not finding anything I "can't" do with a script, but further consideration around this notice is badly needed.

Agree. If MS want this to be the new way to go than it needs to be seamless.
Also the script need to be embedded in the xlsx file a now we have script all over the palce. Even in my sharepoint (grr). Is there any roadmap where we can look?

Hi,

I 200% agree with this comment - it is quite annoying not being able to disable the status bar.

I'm developping an excel file for my compagny where users will have to click on a button to run a script.

It will be anoying for them to get this status bar everytime they click on this button.

I moved my macro VBA into Office Script and it will be a shame to downgrade the user experience.

If anyone find a workround please share ;)

I see that this query was originated in February 2022, nearly two years ago. Has Microsoft not done any development to make this optional since then??

Has there been any head way made on this. I'm slowly porting VBA to office scripts, and this is the biggest complaint I get, next to how slow the programs run.

Just to follow up on what Kenneth is requesting:
It's a seriously bad idea to allow a pop-up to show RUN STATUS every time a script runs IMO.

The user ---who doesn't know how it's coded---will not know what to do with this and will find it as annoying as the coder. Please would you ask the dev team to remove this or provide an option in the view tab to turn it off?

Is there any progress on this that hasn't been posted anywhere? My org wants to start porting VBA to Office Scripts as well, but this script run status is a deal breaker for the UX. Is there a way to disable it somehow?

Ideal behavior would be to show "running script ... " in the application status bar somewhere - anywhere less obtrusive than 1/3 of the screen being hidden by the confusing status pane. End users just want to see the results, not internal messages like this.

It may be annoying, but I have found it useful, so that any from my team of 10 wont try to run their script at the same time someone else is running theirs. Each script has over 300 actions and takes about 5-15 seconds to run, so the script is at least giving a warning its running, so that others wont crash that run by interrupting it. The 3 prompts it gives is an alert to others to wait until its finished. Just my 2 cents on the positive side.
