I have several tabular cubes (.bim files) where I am trying to do some documentation in excel.

I would like to find a way to automatically export for a given cube:

  • Column name (cube level)
  • Column name (source level)
  • Table name (cube level)
  • Table name (source level)
  • Measure with corresponding dax code.

Is there a way I can get all these values with a single click, rather than building it myself by constantly copy pasting to excel?

    Hi @ovonemty ,

    Thank you for your post.

Please refer to the similar thread, see below:
One option is to build a Reporting Services report with SSAS as to data source. When you execute that report you have an option to export the result to Excel and you will get a flattened view of the cube in the Excel sheet.

And also, you could connect to SSAS cube from Excel, and then analyze in Excel. For more information, please refer to Connect to a SQL Server Analysis Services Database (Import).

AFAIK a true single-click solution is yet to be coded, but https://daxstudio.org/ and https://www.sqlbi.com/tools/vertipaq-analyzer/ will do most of the work for you
