I want to prepare an estimate for ADX with 2TB monthly data..
I checked this link "https://dataexplorer.azure.com/AzureDataExplorerCostEstimator.html " .

What should I put in for the field "Estimated Data Compression (x times)" . How do I decide this value without setting up ADX , as I need to give an estimate of cost.

As per my understanding need to see A="Total Ingestion Volume" and B="Total Data Received " in ADX metrics. Then A/B gives the compression value.

    Hello @Soumya Banerjee ,
Thanks for the question and using MS Q&A platform.
As we understand the ask here is to know as to what is value for compression
I am not sure if you jave gone through the youtube video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndyPzbAi_kY
In this video they do talk about other parameters and the compression ration is generaly seven .
Adx uses different alogrithm for compression , please read more here

<<< A quick extract from the above link >>>

Data in columns is compressed by standard compression algorithms. By default, the engine uses LZ4 to compress data, as this algorithm has an excellent performance and reasonable compression ratio. In fact, we estimate that this compression is virtually always to be preferred over keeping the data uncompressed, simply because the saving on moving the data into the CPU cache is worth the CPU resources to decompress it! Additional compression algorithms are supported, such as LZMA and Brotli, but most customers just use the default.

Please do let me if you have any queries.

    Thanks
    Himanshu
