I have a security company auditing my Windows 2012R2 Standard Edition Servers. They are advising me that the file "Cmipnpinstall.dll" is not updated. The current version running on the server is 6.3.9600.16384. I checked and that is indeed the file installed. Stack Update KB4566425 states that this file is to be updated to version 6.3.9600.19750. I would uninstall and then reinstall the update but the update cannot be uninstalled. I ran an SFC /ScanNow and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth and they came up clean. I have a number of servers with the same issue. Can anyone please clarify this for me. Thank you!

    Hi,

KB4566425 is servicing stack update, it make changes to how updates are installed and cannot be uninstalled from the device.

Cmipnpinstall.dll is the PNP plugin installer for CMI.
You don’t find it since it’s a system and hidden file. Cmipnpinstall.dll is usually located in the %SYSTEM% folder.

If you can locate the extracted "Cmipnpinstall.dll" from the KB4566425 Update.
You can replace the old file with the newer version.

Hope above information can help you.
