WOPI Access for Education Users

Question

Are there any limitations for WOPI access for Academic (A3) users?

We have an app that opens documents, etc for editing using WOPI, previously we have implemented this with no issues at sites using O365 Enterprise licences (E1 and E3), but are being blocked by a licence error for a site with O365 Education licences (A3). The behaviour we are seeing is:

1. User attempts to open document from our App using the WOPI call
2. User is prompted for log in details with a message stating "To edit business documents you need a commercial office 365 subscription"
3. User logs in using their O365 credentials
4. Error is returned stating "Your Office 365 account does not have and office licence assigned to it"

I've trolled through the site, but can't find any clear definitions of the difference between academic and enterprise users in this context, any assistance would be appreciated.

But your issue is related to license requirement, which is not suppported on Q&A forum. Thanks for your understanding.

Please note, Office 365 ProPlus is renamed to be Microsoft 365 Apps for EnterPrise.
