Issue configuring multiple Managed Metadata Service Applications

Hi,

I have a SharePoint farm (on-prem) with 2 web applications. I would like to set up a separate Managed Metadata Service application to use with each web application, so that I can maintain separate Term Sets. So I created a second Managed Metadata Service application and then created a custom Service Connection Association for each web application, connecting the first web application with the default Managed Metadata Service application, and the second web application with the new Managed Metadata Service application. All that worked with no errors.

However, when I access the service applications in Central Admin (no matter which one I click on), both will display the same term store entries, and the "Available Service Applications" drop down (where I am supposed to be able to select which term store I want to see) only contains an option for the default Managed Metadata Service application.

Any idea what I might be missing? Is there an additional configuration step needed to make both service applications accessible?

Thanks

    Hi @Rene Wagner
Per my test, I could make it on my server just by creating several Managed Metadata Service application and associate them to different web application as you did.

I have not reproduced this issue and also could not find any articles to explain it, this is weird and we suggest you open a ticket with Microsoft, more professional will assist you.

OK -- I found the issue. When I created my service application I deselected the option "Add this service application to the farm's default list" thinking it related to the Content Type Hub settings, and not realizing that it was a separate setting unrelated to the content type hub settings.

    Thanks for you help.
