We has an application deployed being accessed by both internal and external users. The application is currently running in https:443 under High Availability mode with Public IP mapped, different datacenter in North and East applications are mapped to DNS, and are also VNET peered. Currently we are using a cross-region load balancer however, it does not support HTTPS traffic.

what is the best way to choose a load balancer and what do you put in front of the web application to secure it?

@Nick Diaz this link has all load balancing options on Azure including a decision tree to guide you https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/architecture/guide/technology-choices/load-balancing-overview

If you are looking at a layer 7, global load balancer then Front Door is a suitable option. It supports HTTPS & also helps you secure your web traffic with WAF

For all options, pls go through the link.
