Hi,

I'm a web designer and Developer Recently I added AVIF format to one of the client's websites because it compresses the whole image and gives decent speed for the website. It's working all on other browsers. Except for Microsoft edge. Even though statistically only 2 % of people are using Edge. so I'm just wondering whether. Do you guys have any solution for this?

Yeah I just found out Edge dose not support AVIF... still. And I'm on the Developer channel, Windows 11 Insider, even made sure I have the AVIF "extension" or whatever from the MS Store. No dice. Chrome works fine.

Thankfully AV1 has been working fine for months, including in the regular release channel of Edge.

What's the deal Microsoft? And why the radio silence?

Images are often the weightiest component of a webpage. Why would Edge NOT want to improve their performance, bandwidth, and support AVIF?
