Azure Data Factory - Can you copy from on-prem MS SQL Server when within a Managed Virtual Network IR?

Hi all,

We're trying to use ADF to copy data from an on-prem SQL Server to an Azure SQL DB. The IR documentation seems to indicate the only way to do this is with a self-hosted IR, but we're also looking options to use a VPN to connect Azure and our on-prem SQL server directly, with something like this:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/data-factory/tutorial-managed-virtual-network-on-premise-sql-server

Is it possible for configured VPN and routes settings to allow Azure IR to copy data from our on-prem SQL Server?

Thanks for your help and guidance!

    Hello @Christian Vogel ,
Thanks for the question and using MS Q&A platform.

As we understand the ask here is can we connect to in premise SQL using Azure IR with VPN , please do let us know if its not accurate.
Is the inpremise server part of VPN ? if yes Its possible .https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/data-factory/concepts-integration-runtime#azure-ir-network-environment

<<text from the above link >>
Azure Integration Runtime supports connecting to data stores and computes services with public accessible endpoints. Enabling Managed Virtual Network*, Azure Integration Runtime supports connecting to data stores using private link service in private network environment*.

Please do let me if you have any queries.
    Thanks
    Himanshu
