OLK2016 shows some attachments as "Outlook Item" until you preview

An issue exists were emails containing attachments are displaying in the message pane as "Outlook Item". When you open the email they then show as the file type - example

  1. Receive file sample.pdf
  2. The attachment in OLK2016 shows as "Outlook Item"
  3. Double click the email and the attachment displays as "Smaple.pdf"
  4. If you try to open the file in the inboxx list it seems not know the file association
  5. Once you open the message, then open the attachment it knows its a PDF and to use Acrobat Reader

    According to your description, I tried to reproduce your scenario, and got the following screenshot:

    As far as I know, outlook item, which is an MSG file, such as an email message, contact, appointment, or task created or saved within Microsoft Outlook. It contains all the information about the item, which includes attachments to an email message.
