Getting error "'CONNECTIONPROPERTY' is not a recognized built-in function name." when connecting to Parallel Data Warehouse in Azure Data Studio

Getting the before mentioned error when trying to connect Azure Data Studio to a PDW. To be more specific, I can connect since I can query the database but the object explorer in Azure Data Studio doesn't work. I have tried connecting in JetBrains DataGrip but I am getting the same error.

There aren't many resources on this. The only things I have found is this issue where one poster mentioned the same error and this one where someone was having the same issue with Visual Studio but there is no resolution. Any help is appreciated.

I don't have access to PDW, but isn't PDW an older version of Synapse dedicated pool?

In any case, CONNECTIONPROPERTY is a built-in function in normal SQL Server, and it may also be supported in Synapse dedicated pool. But apparently not in PDW.

Since Azure Data Studio apparently supports connections to PDW, I would say that this is a bug. I would recommend that any of you who have run into this file a bug on https://github.com/microsoft/azuredatastudio/issues and share the link so that other people can track it as well.

Hi can you please help us..

there are a lot of people with this problem that is affecting only Visual Studio 2022

If I open a save file.DSQL it opens Connection and works fine.

I am able to browse the PDW on sql server object explorer but if I open a New Query will ask to login to sql server instead of Connection shown above
