I have successfully restored Authenticator to a new phone. All the accounts are working except for the five Microsoft 365 work accounts that I use.
They all tell me, "Action required. Scan the QR code provided by your organization to finish recovering this account".
When I log into My Account (myaccount.microsoft.com), I can't find anywhere where a QR code is displayed.
Where do I find the QR codes that Authenticator is looking for?

This is a poor solution and is short sited. I have been invited to 10+ tenants, which required me to setup 2FA in the app. I forsee that me and my 1000 users using Teams and having them being invited into other tenants, will create a significant problem trying to restore these EXT (external) 2FA items that exist in the authenticator app.
I swapped phones and have access to my old phone. It is ridiculously and frankly impossible to get these 10+3rd party tenant 2FA codes back. What if I had 100? 1000? There has to be a better way to backup and restore these 2FA keys. Right now I see that there is no way. This is ridiculous and short sited on Microsoft's part.
I have about 80 accounts in a Google authenticator and about the same number in Microsoft authenticator. I got a new iPhone and I migrated the old one on it. Google authenticator picked up all the 80 accounts without any backup/restore and without any intervention from me. Microsoft authenticator backup/restore ended up with every single transferred account having an exclamation point and a request to rescan a QR code. This is exactly how I expect a Microsoft solution to work. Its basic function somehow works, while anything else related to the product is made as user unfriendly as possible, and ideally 100% brain-dead. Enjoy Microsoft products.
