Hi all,

I recently had a customer have problem when disable IE 11 from Intune on 2 Windows 10 1809 version. Another device configuration profile police default Edge was success take effect on the machine.
The failed policy will get below error message from event logs and Intune.

I tested disable IE 11 policy on another tenant with Windows 10 21H2 was success and I copy the policy and re-create the policy few time on their tenant but still fail. So I think the problem only relate to the machine itself.

I had done below checking.

  • Checked the machine patch level is higher than "Windows 10 Enterprise 2016 LTSB: KB4601318 or later".
  • Checked Edge version was in Stable Channel list.
  • Checked the machine had update ADMX file.
  • Checked inetres.admx was same as my 21H2 machine.

  • Both value 1 and 2 are tested but still fail.
  • "./Device" with or without doesn't help.

I still no idea why this happen. If anyone have any suggestion will be appreciate. Thanks.

Roy Chung

@Roy Chung , From your description, it seems the windows 10 1809 are failed to apply the profile. But the Windows 10 21H2 can apply successfully.

Firstly, I would like to confirm if the profile is configured as below:
    OMA-URI: ./Device/Vendor/MSFT/Policy/Config/InternetExplorer/DisableInternetExplorerApp
    Data type: String
    Value:
    <enabled/><data id="NotifyDisableIEOptions" value="2"/>

Meanwhile, for the windows 10 1809, I notice it needs to upgrade to "Windows 10 version 1809, Windows Server version 1809, and Windows Server 2019: KB4598296 or later". Please install the latest KB for windows 10 1809 to see if it can be applied successfully.

Please try the above suggestion and if there's any update, feel free to let us know.
