Hello,

I'm trying to install Sql Server 2019 on a Windows 11 system and I am getting errors towards the tail end of the installation.

These are the error messages that I'm getting:

Can someone help me with this?

    Hi @Johnathan

If you are willing to share your error log, it will be more helpful to solve your issue, in the folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\150\Setup Bootstrap\Log.

From the error shown so far, the advice I can give you is to change the account name of database engine service to NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE and continue installation
Wait on the Database Engine recovery handle failed. Check the SQL server error log for potential causes

Ended up getting SQL Server to install and run.

Found this article: https://borncity.com/win/2022/02/07/windows-11-may-bricks-mssql-server-instances-no-longer-executable/. I happen to have that exact SSD.

Then I followed the instructions here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/sql/admin/troubleshoot-os-4kb-disk-sector-size.

Ran into some path issues (installed from an ISO), so I reinstalled SQL Server using the Custom option (instead of download media) for installation.

Then I made sure to use the NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE account name.

And it installed without any errors.

    Thanks for your help.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

So, I was able to complete the installation without any errors, but now I'm having issues with starting the server.

    I get the following error:

    208094-sql-server-error-3.png

Not sure what to do from here.

    Hi @Johnathan ,

There are many reasons for the error, it is still recommended to check your error log and event viewer,

Several possible solutions can be given here:
Please try to repair SQL Server installation

It could also be a permission issue:
    Winodw+R to type “services.msc”
Choose the Services and look for SQL Server
Click on the Log on tab and check what the service is starting as.
type your account name and click on the Check Names
Finally, click on the OK button and add the password if it

Finally, you can try to uninstall and reinstall:
