2022-07-17T15:04:12.463+00:00

Dears,

we are upgrading our monitoring system and during the upgrade we will need to have
Win Servr 2019 Std 16core 2VM CAL-Less ( Qty 3)
Windows 2019 RDS 5x DEV CAL LIC ( Qty 4)

we already did purchase the needful qtys via our supply chain and the licenses were deliverd by our credited supplier and shipped via our supply chain and it is currently in the country under customs clearence process
unfortunately the customs clearence process is talking too much time here ( 3 -5Ws)
We have already shared the upgrade plan with our customer that would start today
I was planning to use the grace period till the customs clearence is finished , but our Back office is saying that grace period is not working for some of the customers who tried

so can you please support to tell :-
1- is there a way to get a soft copy of a purchased licenses any how ?
2- is it true that the grace period is no more working in Win server 2019 ?
3- is there a way to get a temp licenses for 90 days till we receive the ones purchased

Thanks for your support and looking forward for your feedback

    Hi,

Thank you for posting the questions to Microsoft Q&A platform.

1- is there a way to get a soft copy of a purchased licenses any how ?

As per my knowledge, there is no such way to get a copy of the windows license. But for double confirmation, I suggest that you could contact the Volume Licensing Service Center

2- is it true that the grace period is no more working in Win server 2019 ?

There should be still 120-day grace period for RDS service, but the session will disconnect in 1 hour. Before you can install RDS role or use the RDS CAL on the server, the server still first needs to be licensed.

3- is there a way to get a temp licenses for 90 days till we receive the ones purchased

There are only temp RDS per device cals but no windows temp licenses. I think you can only use evaluation version before you received the license. But it cannot be used for in-place upgrade.

    Hope the above information helps.

The 180 day evaluation here may work out.

When you install the RDS role, by default, you have a 120-day grace period to work with.

i am checking with our technical team and will let you know , but their initial feedback is that we are doing an upgrade from WIn2012 so the evaluation license may not work with an upgrade or can it ?
