"Word could not finish merging these documents or inserting this database"

I sent out multiple mail merge emails last week. Today I went in (doing the exact same thing I did last week) to send another batch. Nothing will send and I keep getting a message that says "Word could not finish merging these documents or inserting this database"

I've double checked a million times that my Excel file is perfect and the preview on Word looks great too - so what is the issue? I am very confused because it worked last week but now I am doing the exact same thing and it won't.

Any help would be much appreciated!

    Hi @Chaise Belt

Could you please tell us what version of Office are you using?

I suggest you create a simple Excel files to test the Word mail merge.
If the issue is reproduced, please try following steps:

    • Update Office to the latest one.
    • Please try to remove cache files like below
      Close Word, open Finder.
Press Command + Shift + G, input “~/Library/Containers”, remove com.microsoft.word (If your Mac OS is Big Sur, the cache folder named Microsoft Word.) to desktop.
Open word, and check if it works correctly.

If the issue is not reproduced, I would suggest you check your Excel file asgin, such as use of quotation marks and fonts.
You can also copy all data to a new Excel file to check this issue.
