Hi,

Can someone please share detail about NT Service\Microsoft SQL DATA SYNC 2.0 account it got created automatically after SQL DATA SYNC 2.0 installtion.

    What exactly do you want to know?

    That user was installed during your rollout of "Data Sync" in order to create a connection between the agent and your database(s) (there is also a new server role).

    I don't know anything about Data Sync, but it seems to be that this is a service SID that is created when you install Data Sync 2.0. Just like you get NT Service\MSSQLSERVER when you install SQL Server. Thus, this is the account that the service for Data Sync 2.0 runs under.

    I guess the answer you need to give to the security team simply is what Data Sync 2.0 is good for. One has to assume that they know what a service SID is.

    SQL Server Setup will create a service group for each SQL Server component, these groups simplify granting the permissions that are required to run SQL Server services and other executables and help secure SQL Server files, and depend on the service configuration, the service account for a service is added as a member of the service group during an installation or an upgrade.

    This is for security and reliability, install the client agent by using the least privileged user account that has network service access
