Cannot use Exchange email account with app password in Thunderbird

I created a dedicated user for SMTP email sending. And also enforced per-user MFA and created an app password for the user.
I would like to send SMTP email with that user and app password. I haven't succeeded in sending emails in in Thunderbird. I have enabled SMTP protocol for the user.
The tenant does not have conditionall access policies or security defaults enabled. I even deleted the user and created it again but the result is the same.
Here is the configuration and related error message in Thunderbird. Error is: Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password.
I wonder what causes this configuration not to work. Maybe something has changed in M365. Earlier my collegue has succeeded using app password in SMTP email send in Thunderbird. Thunderbird version should be the latest available, 102.1.2.

I tried to add the account to Outlook client with IMAP protocol.
Outlook gives me a following prompt. No matter how many times I press OK, the prompt comes back.
If I press Cancel, the getting things ready screen stays there. But eventually it will give me an error.
So I was not able to add this account using Outlook client. I hope this helps in troubleshooting.

I would suggest open a service request to confirm with Office 365 teams, check whether IMAP (Basic client) blocked for your tenant from the backend.
If IMAP is blocked for your tenant, you will need to use OAuth authenticate for IMAP client.

2022-08-30T11:40:22.147+00:00 Thank you for the confirmation and suggestion. Maybe IMAP (Basic client) is indeed blocked. If I need to open a service request to confirm that, I think I will do it.
I try to keep you posted what Office 365 teams answered to the service request.
