Create a Google Analytics Aggregated connection

Important

This feature is in Beta. To use it, a workspace admin must turn on Lakeflow Connect for Google Analytics Aggregated from the Previews page. See Manage Azure Databricks previews.

Create a Google Analytics Aggregated connection in Catalog Explorer to store authentication credentials for Lakeflow Connect ingestion. Any user with the USE CONNECTION privilege on the connection can then create Google Analytics Aggregated ingestion pipelines without needing direct access to the credentials.

For privilege requirements, see Connect to managed ingestion sources.

Prerequisites

Complete the source setup. Use the credentials retrieved there to create the connection.

Create a connection

The Google Analytics Aggregated connector supports two authentication methods: a service account and OAuth 2.0 user-to-machine (U2M). Follow the steps for the method that you configured in the source setup.

Service account (Recommended)

  1. In the Azure Databricks workspace, click Data icon. Catalog > Create > Create a connection.
  2. On the Connection basics page of the Set up connection wizard, specify a Connection name.
  3. In the Connection type drop-down menu, select Google Analytics Aggregated.
  4. In the Auth type drop-down menu, select Service Account (Recommended).
  5. (Optional) Add a comment.
  6. Click Next.
  7. On the Authentication page, enter the following credentials from Configure authentication to Google Analytics:
    • Service Account JSON Key: Google service account key in JSON format to authenticate to your Google Analytics property.
    • User Email to Impersonate (optional): Google Workspace user to impersonate through domain-wide delegation. Omit to use the service account's own identity.
  8. Click Create connection.

OAuth U2M

  1. In the Azure Databricks workspace, click Data icon. Catalog > Create > Create a connection.
  2. On the Connection basics page of the Set up connection wizard, specify a Connection name.
  3. In the Connection type drop-down menu, select Google Analytics Aggregated.
  4. In the Auth type drop-down menu, select OAuth User-to-Machine.
  5. (Optional) Add a comment.
  6. Click Next.
  7. On the Authentication page, enter the following credentials from Configure authentication to Google Analytics:
    • Client ID: The client ID of the OAuth client that you created in the Google Cloud console.
    • Client Secret: The client secret of the OAuth client.
  8. Click Sign in to Google and complete the sign-in flow. Grant the requested permissions when prompted.
  9. After you return to the Azure Databricks workspace, click Create connection.
