Configure authentication to Oracle Eloqua

Important

This feature is in Beta. To use it, a workspace admin must turn on Lakeflow Connect for Oracle Eloqua from the Previews page. See Manage Azure Databricks previews.

To let the Lakeflow Connect Oracle Eloqua connector authenticate, register an app in the Oracle Eloqua AppCloud Developer Framework and find the API base URL of your Oracle Eloqua instance. Use the credentials retrieved from the steps on this page to create a Unity Catalog connection in Azure Databricks.

Prerequisites

  • An Oracle Eloqua instance, and an Oracle Eloqua user with permissions for the resources that the connector ingests.
  • An Oracle Eloqua user in a security group with the Access to App Cloud Developer action permission. This permission is required to register an app. See the Oracle Eloqua list of action permissions.
  • Your Azure Databricks workspace URL, to set the app's OAuth callback URL.

Configure Oracle Eloqua

The Oracle Eloqua connector authenticates with OAuth 2.0 using the authorization code grant. To get the client credentials, register an app in the Oracle Eloqua AppCloud Developer Framework. Then find the API base URL of your Oracle Eloqua instance.

Step 1: Register an Oracle Eloqua app

See Register your app and Authenticate using OAuth 2.0 in the Oracle Eloqua documentation.

  1. Sign in to Oracle Eloqua.
  2. Select Settings > AppCloud Developer.
  3. On the App Developer page, click Create App.
  4. Enter a Name and a Description for the app, and enter the URL of an image in Icon. All three fields are required.
  5. In OAuth Callback URL, enter https://<workspace-url>/login/oauth/http.html, where <workspace-url> is your Azure Databricks workspace URL.
  6. Enable Url, Configure Url, Status Url, and Uninstall Url are optional.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Record the app's Client ID and Client Secret. To view the Client Secret, click Show. You enter both values when you create the connection.

Step 2: Find your API base URL

Oracle Eloqua hosts each instance on one of several data centers, called pods. The connection requires the base URL of your instance's pod, for example https://secure.p03.eloqua.com. The https://login.eloqua.com/id endpoint returns this base URL. See Determining base URLs in the Oracle Eloqua documentation.

  1. Call the /id endpoint with HTTP basic authentication. Use your company name (site name), username, and password in the format <site-name>\<username>:<password>:

    curl --user '<site-name>\<username>:<password>' https://login.eloqua.com/id

To call this endpoint, the user must have at least the Advanced Users - Marketing permissions.

  2. In the response, find the value of urls.base. Use this value as the API Base URL when you create the connection. Enter only the scheme and host, with no path or trailing slash.
