What is Neon Serverless Postgres Preview?

With Azure Native Integrations, you can easily provision, manage, and tightly integrate software and services from software development companies on Azure.

An example of this kind of integration is the Neon Serverless Postgres service, which is now in preview. Microsoft and Neon developed the service and manage it together. You can find it in the Azure portal or get it on Azure Marketplace.

Neon is a cloud-native Postgres solution designed for modern applications. It offers a serverless, fully managed, and scalable Postgres database. Neon's advanced features include autoscaling, scale-to-zero, database branching, instant point-in-time restore, and time travel queries. Neon simplifies database management with seamless integration into your existing workflows. This integration provides a powerful, cost-efficient solution for developers and businesses. 

Neon manages the Postgres infrastructure so that you can focus on building and optimizing your applications. For example, Neon manages database configuration, maintenance, and scaling operations.

With the service's intuitive onboarding process, you can quickly start using Neon's capabilities for your Azure workloads to keep your databases optimized for performance and reliability.

Neon Serverless Postgres provides these key capabilities:

  • Seamless onboarding as an integrated service on Azure.
  • Unified billing via monthly billing on Azure Marketplace.
  • Single sign-on with no separate sign-up needed from the Neon portal.
  • Management of all Neon resources from the Azure portal. You track them on the All resources page with your other Azure resources.

Subscribe to Neon

You can subscribe to the service through the Azure Marketplace online store or through the Azure portal. Search for it by name: Neon.

Subscribe from the Azure portal

Begin by signing in to the Azure portal.

  1. In the Azure portal, on the service menu's global search bar, search for marketplace. In the Services results, select Marketplace.

    The Azure Marketplace Get Started pane appears.

  2. On the command bar, enter the name of the service in the Search the Marketplace search box.

  3. In the search results, choose the provider.

  4. Choose your preferred plan, and then select Subscribe.
