Candidates for this exam have experience using GitHub Advanced Security (GHAS) to secure code, secrets, and dependencies across the software development lifecycle. They can configure security features, triage and remediate alerts, and apply prevention-first practices using policies, workflows, and automation. Candidates are familiar with GitHub fundamentals, CI/CD, and secure development concepts.

GitHub certifications are valid for 2 years. GitHub is transitioning to Microsoft’s recertification process, which will provide a new way for candidates to maintain their certifications without retaking the full certification exam.
To ensure candidates are not impacted during this transition, all GitHub certifications that expire before the new recertification process is available will be extended by 6 months. If your certification has already expired, please reach out to learn@github.com and we will provide you with one exam voucher to cover the cost of your first renewal attempt.
Once the new recertification process is in place, candidates will be able to use Microsoft’s recertification process to maintain their active GitHub certifications.
