TextWriter.FormatProvider Property

Definition

Gets an object that controls formatting.

public:
 virtual property IFormatProvider ^ FormatProvider { IFormatProvider ^ get(); };
public virtual IFormatProvider FormatProvider { get; }
member this.FormatProvider : IFormatProvider
Public Overridable ReadOnly Property FormatProvider As IFormatProvider

Property Value

An IFormatProvider object for a specific culture, or the formatting of the current culture if no other culture is specified.

Remarks

The value of the FormatProvider property specifies the culture-specific formatting that is used when you call the Write and WriteLine methods. If you do not want to provide a format provider, you create an instance by using the TextWriter() constructor, which sets the FormatProvider property to null. When the FormatProvider property contains null, the culture of the current thread is used for formatting.
