Parameter.Clone Method

Definition

Returns a duplicate of the current Parameter instance.

C#
protected virtual System.Web.UI.WebControls.Parameter Clone();

Returns

A Parameter that is an exact duplicate of the current one.

Examples

The following code example demonstrates how to call the Parameter(Parameter) constructor from a class that extends the Parameter class to implement correct object cloning behavior for the class. This code example is part of a larger example provided for the Parameter class.

C#
// The StaticParameter copy constructor is provided to ensure that
// the state contained in the DataValue property is copied to new
// instances of the class.
protected StaticParameter(StaticParameter original) : base(original) {
  DataValue = original.DataValue;
}

// The Clone method is overridden to call the
// StaticParameter copy constructor, so that the data in
// the DataValue property is correctly transferred to the
// new instance of the StaticParameter.
protected override Parameter Clone() {
  return new StaticParameter(this);
}

Remarks

The Clone method calls the Parameter(Parameter) copy constructor to initialize a new instance of the Parameter class with the values of the current instance.

If you extend the Parameter class, you can override the Clone method to include any state that should be copied to a new instance of your derived class.
