Document intelligence overview
The Document intelligence building block includes a Document management user interface control (PCF) and an automated document processing framework that are a set of Power automate flows. The Document management control enables the agent to manage documents as part of a business scenario. For example, in the Open a bank account sample (onboarding) application scenario, the Document management user interface helps to track and manage the documents that are part of the onboarding process. Examples of the documents include Identification document, payslip document, and so on.
The Document intelligence flows help the business admin set up for each document definition within the business scenario a smart automatic process. The smart automatic process eases the work of the agents by providing them with automatic insights, automatic document data extraction, and additional supporting information output for further process use based on the configuration. These insights and output are displayed in the Document management user interface control.
The business admin can decide whether a document has an automated flow.
The Document intelligence workflow is a set of flows that the business admin can use to set up an individual journey for each document definition with multi-tiered verification steps such as categorization, data extraction, third-party validators, and so on. By default, Microsoft offers integration with AI models using AI builder within the Power platform.
For each type of document, the business admin determines the relevant flow steps. Each step can host an AI model or service that contributes to verifying the document. The outcome of the document journey is usually a document status recommendation and might include an extract output and additional supporting information (calculated within the process or added from the reference data), if an extraction step is configured in the flow. The business admin configures the business logic for the document status recommendation according to the document definition flow.
The Document workflow enables the complete or partial automation of the document verification controlled by the business admin. The document status recommendation, the flow extract, and the enriched output, appear in the Document tab for each document to help the agent perform the verification process.
The document journey can either result in a recommendation about the document, or an automatic approval or rejection of the document.
