Deprecations in Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability

This article describes the features that are deprecated in Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability. The following section lists the features that are deprecated in all releases.

Cloud for Sustainability API deprecated

Cloud for Sustainability API is deprecated on May 30, 2025. We've deprecated the preview of Cloud for Sustainability API. This decision is part of our ongoing efforts to streamline our offerings and focus on delivering enhanced sustainability solutions through existing platforms and solutions.

Microsoft Cloud for Solution Center deprecated

Microsoft Cloud Solution Center provides a central place to deploy and configure Microsoft industry cloud solutions. It gives customers and partners a unified view of industry cloud capabilities for a seamless provisioning experience across Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Dynamics 365, and Microsoft Power Platform. Since Microsoft Cloud for Solution Center is now deprecated, all Cloud for Sustainability solution deployments through the Power Platform Admin Center

Environmental Credit Service deprecated

Environmental Credit Service enhances efficiency, trust, and transparency in voluntary ecological markets. It tokenizes and manages the lifecycle of assets, including projects, claims, and carbon credits, across participants such as suppliers, issuing registries, validation and verification bodies, marketplaces, custodians (financial intermediaries), and buyers. This service connects the diverse participants within the voluntary ecological market ecosystem.

Sustainability data definition replaces Emissions source field

Sustainability Manager previously used the Emissions source field to identify the type of data used for ingestions and calculations. With the expansion to include water and waste, Sustainability Manager now uses Sustainability data definition as the new categorizing field and table within the product. This field allows for the ingestion and calculation of other data types beyond emissions.

The Is market based attribute/column is deprecated

The Is market based column no longer appears on the All emissions page. The Accounting method and Alternate result basis columns replace it. The Market based checkbox in the calculation model experience is replaced with the Accounting method dropdown.
