This article describes the features that are deprecated in Microsoft for Sustainability. The following section lists the features that are deprecated in all releases.
Sustainability data solutions in Microsoft Fabric transitioned
Microsoft transitioned Sustainability data solutions in Microsoft Fabric to a GitHub repository on November 14, 2025. Its Learn documentation was removed.
You can keep using your current solution without disruption. You might see visual or navigation changes, but the core functionality stays the same. If you have questions, or to request access to the Github repository, email SDSGitHub@microsoft.com.
CSRD template in Purview Compliance Manager (preview) deprecated
CSRD template in Purview Compliance Manager (preview) is deprecated on October 31, 2025. We're deprecating the CSRD template in Purview Compliance Manager (preview) solution. This decision is part of our ongoing efforts to streamline our offerings and focus on delivering enhanced sustainability solutions through existing platforms and solutions. Its Learn documentation was removed.
We understand that this change may affect your current workflows and processes. As an alternative, you can onboard to the External reporting in Sustainability Manager | Microsoft Learn
Microsoft for Sustainability API deprecated
Microsoft for Sustainability API is deprecated on May 30, 2025. We've deprecated the preview of Microsoft for Sustainability API. Its Learn documentation was removed. This decision is part of our ongoing efforts to streamline our offerings and focus on delivering enhanced sustainability solutions through existing platforms and solutions.
We understand that this change may affect your current workflows and processes. If you would like to continue to gather this information, you can onboard to Azure carbon optimization. For more information, see What is Azure carbon optimization (preview) - Azure Carbon Optimization | Microsoft Learn and Export Azure carbon optimization emissions data - Azure Carbon Optimization | Microsoft Learn.
Microsoft Cloud Solution Center deprecated
Microsoft Cloud Solution Center is now deprecated, hence all Microsoft for Sustainability solution deployments now go through the Power Platform Admin Center.
Environmental Credit Service deprecated
Environmental Credit Service was originally launched as a preview service to provide a common infrastructure for tracing and standardizing carbon credit origination.
Fresh onboarding to Environmental Credit Service trial was paused on February 4, 2025, and sandbox access continued only until March 6, 2025. Its Learn documentation was removed.
For enterprise-grade sustainability workflows, we recommend using Microsoft Sustainability Manager and related advanced calculation features for emissions and allocation profiles.
Sustainability data definition replaces Emissions source field
Sustainability Manager previously used the Emissions source field to identify the type of data used for ingestions and calculations. With the expansion to include water and waste, Sustainability Manager now uses Sustainability data definition as the new categorizing field and table within the product. This field allows for the ingestion and calculation of other data types beyond emissions.
The Is market based attribute/column is deprecated
The Is market based column no longer appears on the All emissions page. The Accounting method and Alternate result basis columns replace it. The Market based checkbox in the calculation model experience is replaced with the Accounting method dropdown. For a detailed list of effects and recommendations, go to Important information about the August 2024 release.
