You can ask Copilot Studio to upgrade agents powered by the standard harness. The upgrade creates a copy of the agent onto the GitHub Copilot harness. The upgrade carries over instructions, tools, and suggested prompts. Your custom topics can be rebuilt as skills of workflows. You get a report of what was migrated, what requires attention, and what was skipped. The upgrade consumes credits.

Upgrade an agent from the standard harness to the GitHub Copilot harness
On the Copilot Studio home page, enter something like "upgrade my Coffee Coach agent" in the input box.
Follow the progress of your request in the chat.
Copilot Studio prompts you to confirm or clarify details as needed. For example, it might ask you to confirm if it found the right agent or what you prefer to do with specific features of the original agent.
When Copilot Studio finishes, your artifacts—the new agent and any workflows—appear as cards in the chat. The tile for the new agent shows the new agent's name followed by (Upgraded).
Select the Open
icon on any card to view or customize the artifact.
Limitations
The following features aren't migrated:
- Knowledge sources
- Power Fx expressions
- Child agents
