Description
Use this cmdlet to update the membership of a collection. The site evaluates the membership for the selected collection based on the collection's membership rules. For collections with many members, this update might take some time to finish.
For more information, see Collection evaluation in Configuration Manager.
Note
Run Configuration Manager cmdlets from the Configuration Manager site drive, for example PS XYZ:\>
. For more information, see getting started.
Examples
Example 1: Update the membership of a collection using the pipeline
This command gets the collection object with the ID of XYZ00014 and uses the pipeline operator to pass the object to Invoke-CMCollectionUpdate, which updates the membership of the collection.
Get-CMCollection -Id XYZ00014 | Invoke-CMCollectionUpdate
Example 2: Update the membership of a collection by name
This command updates the membership of the collection named UserCol1.
Invoke-CMCollectionUpdate -Name "UserCol1"
