New-AzureSqlDatabaseServer

Creates an Azure SQL Database server.

Note

The cmdlets referenced in this documentation are for managing legacy Azure resources that use Azure Service Manager (ASM) APIs. This legacy PowerShell module isn't recommended when creating new resources since ASM is scheduled for retirement. For more information, see Azure Service Manager retirement.

The Az PowerShell module is the recommended PowerShell module for managing Azure Resource Manager (ARM) resources with PowerShell.

Description

The New-AzureSqlDatabaseServer cmdlet creates an instance of Azure SQL Database Server in the current subscription.

Examples

Example 1: Create a server

PS C:\>New-AzureSqlDatabaseServer -Location "East US" -AdministratorLogin "AdminLogin" -AdministratorLoginPassword "AdminPassword"

This command creates a version 11 Azure SQL Database server.

Example 2: Create a version 12 server

PS C:\>New-AzureSqlDatabaseServer -Location "East US" -AdministratorLogin "AdminLogin" -AdministratorLoginPassword "AdminPassword" -Version "12.0"

This command creates a version 12 server.
