XML Specific, HTML/XML, Text Editor, Options Dialog Box

Select the XML Specific page under Text Editor, HTML/XML Options in the Options dialog box to adjust settings for XML validation, automatic statement completion, auto-insert, and control hosting in the XML editor.

Validation

  • Enable XML Validation
    When this option is selected, XML markup that has problems is underlined with wavy underlines. When you move the mouse pointer over such underlined text, a pop-up ToolTip suggests a resolution for the problem.

Statement Completion

  • Auto pop-up XML statement completion
    When this option is selected, it activates automatic statement completion in the XML Designer. This feature provides guidance on how to complete XML markup structures. As you edit the markup for your page in the XML editor, lists of valid tags, elements, and attributes are displayed. Select any option from the list to insert it into your markup.

Auto Insert

  • Close tag
    When this option is selected, a closing tag for the previous XML element is automatically inserted before the opening tag of the next element, except when the previous element does not require a closing tag.
  • Attribute value quotes
    When this option is selected, quotation marks are automatically inserted around attribute values.
