Split Buttons

Send Feedback

On Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs, a split button control has a button and a menu. The menu includes commands for secondary functionality. For example, the input panel uses a split button.

When you include split buttons in your application, use the following guidelines:

  • The text or icon for a split button control should update to reflect the last item selected from the menu.
  • The split button control has limited use and requires greater stylus accuracy.

State Attributes

The following illustration shows the possible states for split button controls on a Windows Mobile-based Pocket PC device.

Label Attributes

Keep labels brief to conserve space.

On Windows Mobile–based Pocket PC devices, use the 8pt Tahoma bold font and title capitalization.

Development Considerations

Although a split button control usually uses an icon, it is acceptable to use text in place of an icon.
