How to: Move Files to or from the Emulator

This topic describes the three ways you can move files to and from the emulator.

To use ActiveSync to move files to or from the emulator

  1. Click the Explore button on the ActiveSync toolbar. (For more information about working with ActiveSync and the emulator, see How to: Use ActiveSync with the Emulator.)
  2. Browse to the source file you want to move, and drag the file to or from the device folder.

To use file sharing to move files to or from the emulator

  • Sharing the files within the file system of the development workstation and accessing those files by using File Manager in the emulated image.

To use the eMbedded Visual C++ Remote File Viewer tool to move files to or from the emulator

  • The Export function moves a file from the file system of the development workstation to the file system of the real or emulated device. The Import function moves files from the real or emulated device to the file system of the development workstation.
