Associating Keywords with a Code Item

You can use Keywords to search the Code Librarian database for associated source code. A list of keywords is similar to an index. Keywords are a great way to find relevant code items fast.

To associate a keyword with a code item

  1. Open the Code Librarian. For details, see Opening the Code Librarian.
  2. Select the code item for which you want to edit keywords.
  3. Select the browse (...) button in the Keyword property in the Property window to open the Keyword Editor. The keywords already associated with the code item are listed in the Keywords associated with this object box. The list of available keywords is displayed in Keywords list.
  4. To associate a keyword from the Keywords list with your code item, select the keyword in Keywords list and then click the "<" button. The keyword moves to the Keywords associated with this object field. To disassociate a keyword from the list, select the keyword and click the ">" button.

To add, edit, or delete keywords

  1. To add a keyword that is not on the Keywords list, type the name of the new keyword in the Add a new word box and click New. Your keyword is added to the Keywords associated with this object box of the currently selected code item or category, and is also available in the Keywords list for association with other code items later.
  2. To edit a keyword in the Keywords list, select the one keyword you want to edit, and click Edit.
  3. To delete a keyword in the Keywords list, select the one keyword you want to delete, and click Delete. Click OK to accept the deletion.
