Creating a Code Library

In addition to the Codelib.clb database provided with the Code Librarian, you can create your own Code Librarian databases. You might have many projects, each requiring a separate library of its own. For example, you might develop a collection of code samples that you want to distribute with a book. With the Code Librarian, you can organize all of the source code with descriptions, keywords, and searchable text and titles.

To create a new code library

  1. Open the Code Librarian. For details, see Opening the Code Librarian.
  2. From the Code Librarian menu, point to Add, and then select New Library.
  3. In the Save As dialog box, enter the name of the new code library and browse to the location where you want to save the file. Click Save.

After the new code library has been saved, it appears as a new node in the Code Librarian Explorer. You can then add new categories and code items.

For information about distributing your custom code libraries, see Distributing Code Samples.
