Running the Logo Tests

To run the logo tests and create a submission cabinet file to send to WHQL for logo approval, complete the following procedures:

To run logo tests from a previously saved Device Job Schedule File

1.

  1. Open a new Device Console window by clicking Explorers, and then clicking Device Console.

  2. Select your DTM controller from the Data Store drop-down list box in the upper-left corner of the Device Console window.

  3. Click the Load button at the bottom of the Device Console window.

  4. Select a Device Job Schedule file that you have previously saved, and then click Open.

Note When you click Open to load your saved Device Job Schedule file, the Add Selected and Schedule Jobs buttons are automatically activated. This means that the jobs are immediately scheduled against the computers in the machine pool. If the computers against which the saved jobs were originally scheduled are no longer in the machine pool, the jobs will not run. No dialog boxes will appear with any of this information.

  5. Skip ahead to the Monitor logo test progress portion of this document.

To select and schedule logo tests

1.

  1. Select the check boxes for the displayed logo tests from the filtered list in the Available Jobs pane.

  2. Click Add Selected.

  3. Note Some of the logo jobs require you to edit some parameters manually before the jobs can be scheduled against the machine pool. The "Running the Xxx Tests" topics will tell you whether or not you must edit parameters. To edit parameters for a logo related job, complete the following procedure.

  4. To edit parameters for a logo job

    1. In the bottom pane showing the selected jobs, right-click the job whose parameters you want to edit, then click Edit parameters.
    2. In the Parameters for "" pane, click the label for the Schedule Value column.
    3. Change the value of the <parameter_name> parameter to the required value.
    4. Click the pencil icon to the left of the parameter name to save your changes.
    5. Close the Parameters for "" dialog box.
  5. Click Schedule Jobs.

Important If you rerun this job, do not do so from the Job Monitor window by using the Rerun option. Switch to the Device Console window and repeat the tasks under To select and schedule logo tests.

Monitor logo test progress

  • Observe logo test progress using Job Monitor, and manually intervene if required by the test.

  • Examine the results of a job in the Result Explorer and diagnose the source of any errors. If necessary, debug your device and/or driver and continue to rerun the logo tests until they pass.

Note Under certain circumstances some tasks within a job will fail but the overall status for the completed job will be a PASS. This is a known condition and as long as the overall status of the completed job is a PASS, the job will be accepted. If you have questions about a failed task within a job that has a PASS status, refer to the Resolving Errors, Updating DTM with QFE Patches topic for more information.

After the logo tests have all passed, you can submit the logo test results to WHQL for approval.
